Regional Checklist of Mystery Animals
The bulk of these reports have been gleaned from the writings of the late Dr. Bernard Heuvelmans and the extant Dr. Karl P. N. Shuker, as well as Eberhart's Mysterious Creatures, and Newton's Encyclopedia of Cryptozoology. They have done a great service to cryptozoology with their passion for digging up these fascinating accounts. I don't intend to try and include every possible cryptid here. I will add the more prominent cryptids as I run across them.
Disclaimer: The animals listed here are considered to be of interest to cryptozoology. No argument is being forwarded on these pages concerning the true reality of these animals there may or may not be a biological basis to these legends, and that biological basis may or may not be scientifically undescribed. Undoubtedly, some of these legends are composites the true basis of these legends probably exists in several different known or unknown species.
