"Croc" Sighting in Massachusetts

Police responded to a man's sighting of an "8-foot crocodile" in Fiske Pond, Massachusetts. Nothing's been found yet. Sounds like an exaggeration in size, misidentification, or both. (News source.)

Giant Crocodilian Fossil

Another giant species of fossil crocodilian (gavial-like, in this instance) has been discovered. The article is in Portuguese, so my online translator isn't exact, but it looks like it was found along the Brazil and Venezuela border. (News source.)

NC Crocodilian Report

A small crocodilian was seen in Lake Hickory, NC, but as it is the wrong part of the state to be part of the known alligator population, it's a suspected release, possibly a caiman. (News source.)

False Gharial in Thailand

It appears that a false gharial has been reported (and photographed) in Sattahip Lake, Thailand. The species hasn't been reported in that country since 1970. The photographs are not great, but it is a crocodilian, and has a profile consistent with Tomistoma schlegelii. (News source.)

Note, this is not the same species as the true gharial, Gavialis gangeticus, which the news source confuses.
