Genetics and Pine Martens

Pine martens in Wales are genetically distinct from those in the rest of the UK. Still the same species, though. (News source.)

Thanks for that Matt. I've never seen a pine marten back home in Scotland, & I've gone looking a couple of times (saw a wildcat just the once). Someone I once knew had a pine marten come into her kitchen one evening when she was elsewhere in the house & had left the back door open, in the Ardross area of Easter Ross. She said it knocked everything off a shelf before bolting back out when she came in to see it leaving.

The figures regarding procurement of DNA samples & even sightings in a country down to 15% forest cover gives me more hope regarding the existence of ABCs in the UK.
